Paintings from the 1960s

First expressions

The paintings created between 1959 and 1969 are closely associated with the Informal and Expressionist movements. The works convey a strong dramatic tension, linked to the human condition and the memory of war. Created primarily on humble materials, they are dominated by chiaroscuro with minimal accents of color. Toward the end of the decade, a new direction emerges: line and spatial dynamics begin to transform figuration, paving the way toward more abstract solutions.
